Melanie Browne

Bio

Melanie first discovered the wonders of tai chi in 2003 while living in Malaysia. Moving with her family to Brisbane, New Zealand and then Perth, Melanie continued to be inspired, being fortunate to learn tai chi and qigong from a number of wonderful teachers in different cities.

After attending Dr Paul Lam’s Tai Chi for Arthritis workshop in May 2009, Melanie began teaching for Arthritis & Osteoporosis WA where she continues to take regular classes. Melanie has also taken TCA classes at seniors’ centers, women’s health centers and gymnasiums as well as conducting tai chi tasters and information sessions for community centres and councils.

Melanie undertook graduate studies in Functional Anatomy with a view to studying physiotherapy however, she put this on hold in October 2012 to take on the position of Community Program Officer (Exercise) at Arthritis & Osteoporosis WA. Part of this role includes hosting workshops to train Tai Chi for Health instructors with the view to making Tai Chi for Health programs more accessible throughout the metropolitan area and country WA.

Having studied and practiced yoga for many years, Melanie went on to teach yoga to children in schools while living in Malaysia. She still continues to practice yoga and meditation alongside tai chi, regularly attending workshops and courses
