The 24 Forms was created in 1956 in China based on Yang style tai chi. Today it is the most popular set containing all the essential principles of tai chi.
Tai Chi for Arthritis
Developed by Dr Lam and his team of medical and tai chi experts, Tai Chi for Arthritis is recommended by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention as an intervention for Falls Prevention. The Depth workshop evolves constantly and many people enjoy it so much they attend it several times over the years. Dr Lam will explain the ultimate purpose of tai chi and what Qi (vital life energy) is. He will work on using the Yi (mind) to drive the Qi, and the Qi to drive the Jing (internal force).
Tai chi practitioners at every level will find something useful. They will be fascinated by new interpretations and the clear directions will allow them to develop their tai chi to a higher level in an even more enjoyable way.
Dr Lam will show you how to deliver the Jing and use it to store and regenerate more Qi. Your tai chi will improve significantly as you begin to cultivate stronger Qi. These techniques and knowledge are applicable to all tai chi.

This workshop can be, with prior notice and the completion of written assignments, an update for Tai Chi for Arthritis or other Tai Chi for Health programs.
Dr Lam will go through form by form in detail to explain the depth and inner meaning. He will offer feedback, points of improvement and directions to develop your tai chi. You will be working towards the ultimate purpose of tai chi; to cultivate your qi most effectively and enjoyably. During the workshop you will have time to interact with Dr Lam and his colleagues, and benefit from his 40 years of tai chi and teaching experience and medical knowledge to help you improve your tai chi.
Dr Lam, an Australian family physician and tai chi expert, is a world leader in the field of tai chi for health. He loves teaching and is the first person in history to have travelled over one million miles for the purpose of teaching tai chi. Many enjoy learning from him so much so that they travel thousands of miles year after year to attend his workshops.
Dr Lam is the author of several books on tai chi and best-selling instructional tai chi DVDs. His tai chi programs are supported by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and health departments and arthritis foundations around the world. At these workshops participants will have the opportunity to update their Tai Chi for Health qualifications. Prior notice is essential and a written assignment must be submitted before 10 August. An administration fee applies.
Continuing to develop your tai chi will bring more enjoyment and greater health benefits. The most important task is to practice regularly - that will enable you to truly feel and understand the inner meaning of tai chi. Here are some hints:
Be fully engaged - when a person is fully engaged in an activity then he or she becomes "lost in time". It often happens when an athlete performs at his or her best, or when an artist paints a masterpiece.
Feeling good naturally - the human body resonates with nature and tai chi follows the rhythms of nature, so you will feel peaceful and relaxed.
Learning new skills - whether you're learning a new set of forms or improving your forms, your mind will benefit from the stimulation. Enjoy the excitement!
Getting the habit - set a regular time daily for practice so it becomes a habit. Your mind and body will thank you.
Using mind power - tai chi is an internal art, allow your mind to be open. A closed mind is like a full cup, an empty mind is ready to take in or absorb new knowledge
