Details

Dr Paul Lam's team merged medical research and traditional Chinese Medicine to create this new, innovative Tai Chi for Memory programme.  Anyone can enjoy this calming and deeply empowering programme, simple but with depth.  It can be taught to people with different levels of cognitive impairment including memory loss.

At the conclusion of this workshop

  • Learn how to teach this programme safely and effectively.
  • Gain knowledge of what Tai Chi is and how it helps people with memory loss.
  • Be able to perform the Tai Chi for Memory set.

Who is eligible to attend this training?

Suitable participants include Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Tai Chi teachers and advanced tai chi students, Nurses, Health professionals (eg doctors), Accredited Exercise Instructors, Certified Allied Health Assistants.

Tai Chi for Health updates:

Current leaders/instructors can request Tai Chi for Health certificate updates with advance notice and submitting an assignment one month prior to the workshop.  Cost $40 per programme.

Your trainers:

Rani Hughes is a Melbourne based Occupational Therapist, while Rosalie Rudduck is a Toowoomba based Physiotherapist.  Both are Master Trainers in many of the Tai Chi for Health programmes within the Tai Chi for Health Institute and have presented instructor training workshops together in both Melbourne and Toowoomba. 

Preparation:

Each participant needs to be familiar with the movements in the Tai Chi for Memory programme (DVD available for $29.95) and teh textbook "Teaching Tai Chi Effectively" by Dr Paul Lam (available in hard copy $21.95 or e-book $9.95) before coming to the workshop.  These products are available from Tai Chi Productions in Sydney Phone: 02 9533 6511 or  www.taichiproductions.com

Board Certification:

Following successful completion of the course, you will be required to register to become a Tai Chi for Health Institute Board certified instructor in Tai Chi for Memory before teaching the programme (if not already a member). Annual fee is $25 (Standard Membership) or $45 (Premier Membership) regardless of the number of certificates you have.

Instructor Certificate $430 (early bird $410 if paid in full by 27th May 2019) *.

Attendance Certificate $330 (early bird $310 if paid in full by 27th May 2019).*

*Attend both this workshop & Tai Chi for Heart Conditions workshop on 6th-7th July and receive a further $40 discount on each workshop.

Location

Toowoomba is a beautiful inland city, with a population of around 100,000.  Just 135 kms west of Brisbane, it is the gateway to south west Queensland.  Plenty of accommodation, some good eating spots, parks, museums and opportunities to explore.  With the Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport, it is now serviced by direct flights to and from Sydney, Melbourne and Townsville with bus and shuttle services available from Brisbane as well.
