Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis

What is Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis? This modified seated version of Tai Chi for Arthritis can be enjoyed by anyone wishing to practice tai chi sitting down. People with almost any chronic condition can learn to improve their health and mobility. This safe easy-to-learn program relieves pain and improves health and quality of life. Many people wanted to try tai chi, but mobility issues caused them to hesitate. Dr Paul Lam and his team of medical and tai chi experts designed this program to give them a safe and effective way to learn; it will also provide health benefits and improve almost anyone’s quality of life. Based on the Sun style of tai chi, Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis (Seated TCA) is easy to learn, effective and safe. It improves flexibility, muscle strength, increases heart/lung activity, aligns posture, improves balance, and integrates the mind and body. Qualified participants who successfully complete the course will be eligible to become Board Certified by the Tai Chi for Health Institute to teach this program.

This one day workshop will focus on how to maximize the benefits of the Tai Chi for Arthritis programme when it is done in a sitting position.

Your trainer:

Rosalie Rudduck is a Physiotherapist and Master Trainer in the Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention, Tai Chi for Arthritis 2, Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis and Tai Chi for Diabetes programmes with the Tai Chi for Health Institute.  She has Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training. Rosalie has worked extensively with people of all ages and has special interests in fall prevention and healthy ageing.

Preparation:

Each participant needs to review the Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis DVD and the 2011 revised edition of the textbook "Teaching Tai Chi Effectively" by Dr Paul Lam (available in hard copy $21.95 or e-book $9.95) before coming to the workshop.  These products are available from Tai Chi Productions in Sydney Phone: 02 9533 6511 or www.taichiproductions.com

Board Certification:

Following successful completion of this one day intensive course, you will be required to register to become a Tai Chi for Health Institute Board certified instructor in Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis before teaching the programme (if not already Board Certified). Annual fee is $25 (Standard Membership) or $45 (Premier Membership) regardless of the number of certificates you have.

Location

Toowoomba is a beautiful inland city, with a population of around 100,000. Just 135 kms west of Brisbane, it is the gateway to south west Queensland.  Plenty of accommodation, some good eating spots, parks and opportunities to explore.  With the new Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport, it is now serviced by direct flights to and from Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns and Townsville with bus and shuttle services available from Brisbane as well.
