Details

Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls Prevention is based on the Sun style of tai chi and is easy to learn, effective and safe. It improves flexibility, muscle strength and balance and has been recommended as an effective falls prevention activity by the US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention.

Tai Chi for Arthritis programme is designed by Dr Paul Lam in conjunction with a team of medical specialists and tai chi experts. Scientific studies have proved its effectiveness in assistaing pain relief, quality of life, balance and falls prevention. 

This one day intensive workshop is the second stage of your training, with the first stage being a self paced learning package - see Preparation below.

Who is eligible to attend this training? Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Exercise Physiologists, Certified Allied Health Assistants, Lifestyle Co-ordinators, Diversional Therapists, Health Practicioners, Nurses, Tai Chi teachers and advanced Tai Chi students who have completed the Stage 1 self paced learning package. 

Your trainer:  Rosalie Rudduck is a physiotherapist and master trainer in the Tai Chi for Arthritis & Fall Prevention, Tai Chi for Diabetes, Memory, Heart Conditions, Osteoporosis & Rehabilitation programmes with the Tai Chi for Health Institute.  She has Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment & Training. Rosalie has worked extensively with people of all ages and has special interests in fall prevention and healthy ageing.

Preparation:  Stage 1 (pre-requisite) self paced learning package needs to be completed prior to attending the workshop and is available from Rosalie once you are registered and payment is received.  Each participant needs to be familiar with the movements in the Tai Chi for Arthritis programme (DVDs available for $39.95), the Tai Chi for Arthritis Handbook ($12.95) and the textbook "Teaching Tai Chi Effectively" by Dr Paul Lam (available in hard copy $21.95 or e-book $9.95) before coming to the Stage 2 workshop.

Board Certification:  Following successful completion of Stages 1 and 2 of the course, you will be required to register to become a Tai Chi for Health Institute Board certified instructor before teaching the programme. Annual fee $26 (Standard Membership), $46 (Premier Membership) & covers Board Certification for all you Tai Chi for Health qualifications.  You will then be listed on the TCHI website. 

Cost

Instructor Certificate includes Stages 1 & 2,  $420 (early bird $400 paid by 18th June 2021).

Tai Chi for Arthritis Update $220 (early bird $200), extra updates $45 each (maximum $90).

Attendance Certificate $220 (early bird $200, paid in full by 18th June 2021).

Cancellation is subject to a $50 administration fee.

Location

Strathpine is located in the Moreton Bay Region just north of Brisbane. Calala Hall is a lovely little hall with a sprung wooden floor, nestled against the Four Mile Creek Peter Campbell Reserve.
