Fred Hembree began his Tai Chi journey in 2023, taking Qigong and Tai Chi Classes under the leadership of Paul Casper at Laughing Tai Chi in Western NC. In June 2026 with the encouragement and support of his instructor, he enrolled in a weeklong workshop with Dr. Paul Lam’s Tai Chi for Health Institute held at Lake Junaluska, NC. He is now a certified instructor in Tai Chi For Arthritis, Tai Chi For Arthritis 2, Tai Chi For Arthritis and Fall Prevention and Seated Tai Chi For Arthritis.
Fred holds a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Columbia Theological Seminary and a Masters of Divinity Degree from Vanderbilt University. He served with distinction during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in the US Army as the Deputy Command Chaplain for 7th Medical Command in Heidelberg, Germany. Fred served 42 years in pastoral ministry and now is dedicated to helping others through teaching Tai Chi For Arthritis and Fall Prevention.
