Ed Farrelly

Ed currently offers classes in the Tucson Arizona area. For a list of class times, locations and other pertinent info please visit TaiChiForHealthMarana.com Ed began his tai chi journey completely by accident while living among the redwood trees in coastal northern California. When the yoga class he was trying to join was full, the registrar (this was in the days before on-line registration was a thing) helpfully suggested Ed try a new tai chi class they were struggling to fill he decided on the spur of the moment to sign up. He joined what turned out to be a wonderful experience, although it was mostly a Qigong and Healing class with very little Tai Chi. He also met the most wonderful instructor, who in a prior life had brought Dr Lam to Kaiser Healthcare in Central California for a demonstration and opportunity to try and convince skeptical doctors that there was something to this Tai Chi thing. This instructor introduced Ed to Yang style Tai Chi, first the 24 forms and then the Long form. There was a small but determined group of Tai Chi players in northern Humboldt Country at that time, and Ed and the group often played Tai Chi on the beaches of in the redwoods. Forest Bathing was a memorable practice. As time went by, Ed was introduced to a number of Qigong sets and exercises, breath work, healing meditation with sound and, eventually, something that he would later realize was TCA. After relocating to Arizona, Ed was fortunate to connect with Heather Chalon, one of Dr Lam's Master Trainers, and continued to practice regularly. At some point he developed an interest in possibly teaching, and after certification began to team teach under the direction of a couple of Tucson and Oro Valley instructors. Ed eventually took over classes from one of these instructors in Tucson, and started a series of classes in Oro Valley, responding to the need of the many seniors who reside in the area. It has so far been a terrific, energizing and enlightening Tai Chi journey, and Ed intends to continue down the path and see where it brings him.
