Sang Myeong Cheon

Bio

Photo of Sang Myeong Cheon Sang-Myeong Cheon is a Neurologist and Assistant Professor, working in the Dong-A University Hospital in Busan, Korea. Parkinson’s disease is his major field of study.

In 2005, Sang-Myeong and his mentor, Professor Kim, established a Parkinson’s Disease center in the hospital. Because they hoped it could contribute for the treatment of patients beyond drug therapy, they started education, surgical intervention and exercise. Their choice for exercise was Tai Chi for Arthritis, and it was the first time Sang-Myeong had practiced Tai Chi. They observed that patients having exercise were much better in strength, mood and lived in higher QoL. They also found that Tai Chi was one of great options they could share with the patients.

And Sang-Myeong found it was also great for him. He found it great to move slowly with gentle resistance focusing body center in each movement. Even greater is to share those delights with his patients.

Sang-Myeong hopes to be a happy instructor with his patients, and also hopes that his happy patient instructors practice with other patients by themselves.
