Mark J. Coffindaffer

Bio

Mark’s introduction to tai chi was a Tai Chi for Arthritis workshop in 2010, where he quickly became an instructor and has been a master trainer since 2013. He is personally trained by Dr. Paul Lam to conduct Tai Chi for Health Instructor Workshops, and has been an instructor for Dr. Lam’s US annual workshops for over 10 years. Mark is a passionate Master Trainer with the ability to grow incredible qi during his tai chi practice.

Mark became aware of Tai Chi from two sources; his theatre background where Tai Chi is frequently taught in movement classes, and later his physician suggested to him that Tai Chi would be beneficial in many ways. He is a certified instructor for many of the Tai Chi for Health Institute forms. He currently teaches a variety of the TCHI programs, the Sun 73, the Yang 24, the Chen 36, the Combined 42, and Moving Stillness Fan in North Central West Virginia. He enjoys traveling and training TCHI instructors in West Virginia and across the United States. By helping others achieve better health and wellness, Mark believes we can make the world a better place.

Mark has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Design. He is a former Associate Professor of theatre at the University of Southwestern Louisiana and taught theatre, speech, and graphic design courses at Fairmont State University in West Virginia. He worked as the Executive Director for the Metropolitan Theatre Preservation Foundation, a theatre restoration project in Morgantown, West Virginia, and served on the Board of Directors of the League of Historic American Theatres, an international organization that promotes restoring and sustaining historic theatres. Mark also has many years of experience as a legal assistant and taught Paralegal courses at Pierpont Community and Technical College in West Virginia.
