What is Tai Chi for Arthritis 2?
Dr Paul Lam and his team of medical and tai chi experts designed the Tai Chi for Arthritis program to be safe and effective for people with arthritis; it also provides health benefits and can improve almost anyone’s quality of life.
Millions of people around the world have gained health benefits from the TCA program. Many scientific studies have shown that the TCA program relieves pain, improves quality of life and makes people feel better. Studies also show that the program prevents falls; that is why the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC.gov) recommends it for this purpose. It is supported by many Arthritis Foundations including the USA, Australia and UK.
TCA has twelve moves, and many people told Dr Lam they wanted a longer set to enhance their practice. Dr Lam has carefully selected a further 9 forms to add to the original TCA to create a more exciting set. Containing more sophisticated moves and subtle changes in direction, TCA2 is an ideal tool for beginners looking to expand their repertoire and develop their knowledge of the tai chi principles, and to gain more health benefits.

Preparation
Anyone is welcome to attend, but in order to become a certified TCA2 instructor participants need to be able to perform the set from memory. Required preparatory work includes being a certified TCA/TCAFP instructor, learning the TCA2 forms through working with the Tai Chi for Arthritis 2 online lessons or DVD and reading the Teaching Tai Chi Effectively book. Depending on the workshop, these materials are either included in the workshop fee or offered at a 20% discount. Board Certification
Following successful completion of this course you will be required to register to become a Tai Chi for Health Institute Board-certified instructor before teaching the program, if you are not already a member. One two-year membership fee of AUD 99 covers Board Certification for all your Tai Chi for Health qualifications, and you will then be listed with your certifications on the TCHI website. Tai Chi for Arthritis Part 2 & Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis Updates with MT Linda Ebeling. Sat, Feb 8, 2025
Please arrive by 8:45 am for registration and paperwork. We will begin promptly at 9 am
This workshop is open to anyone who has completed the Tai Chi for Arthritis Teacher Certification (Leader’s Course) by Dr. Paul Lam or his authorized trainers. Students will learn and practice the advanced moves/forms of part 2 of TCA. Discussions on improving instructional and personal skill will also be included. You may also update STCA at this workshop. There is a written quiz for STCA.
Workshop Objective:
After this Tai Chi for Arthritis Part 2 Workshop, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate the tai chi part 2 set
- Know the Tai Chi for Arthritis set at a deeper level
- Demonstrate improvement in tai chi skills and knowledge
- Describe ways tai chi improves health and relaxation
- Differentiate ways to safely modify tai chi movements for an individual’s capabilities and limitations.
Workshop Requirements
This workshop is designed to train participants to instruct the Tai Chi for Arthritis Part 2 form safely and effectively to others. Participants must be a current TCA Certified Instructor in order to receive an instructor certificate for this workshop. It is required that participants have or purchase and study the DVD(s) or Online lesson and Dr. Lam’s book, “Teaching Tai Chi Effectively,” prior to the class. These are NOT included in your registration fees. The DVD, Online lessons, and print or eBook are available at http://usa.taichiproductions.com/
A discount code will be sent to participants upon receipt of registration payment.
A current CPR certification, a current accredited first aid course, or similar qualification is required before teaching this program. It is the responsibility of each participant to fulfill and maintain this requirement.
Eligibility for an Instructor Certificate
To Receive your Instructor’s Certificate, you are required to:
• Successfully complete the workshop and demonstrate knowledge of the form.
• Hold a valid first aid or CPR certificate from an accredited course (or be a qualified healthcare professional, such as, RN, EMT, etc.) before teaching a TCA class.
Please bring a water bottle, snack and your lunch. Indoor shoes with flat soles comfortable for movement are required in the studio.
