"The Art of Slow: Why Speed Matters in Tai Ch"
Monthly Tai Chi for Health Forum - Time Zone 2
NOVEMBER 2026
Slowness is the first thing people notice about tai chi, and one of the first things newcomers ask about. Yet even experienced practitioners often don't fully understand why it matters so much.
Dr Paul Lam puts it simply: "The slowness allows us to integrate our bodies and mind. In other words, to be mindful and to be present."
But how slow is slow? Is slower always better? And how do you move slowly without losing flow, balance or enjoyment?
At the November Forum, Dr Lam will explore these questions and share a simple, practical approach you can bring straight into your own practice, one that helps each movement generate more inner energy.
He will also look at what slowness does for you: for your strength, your awareness and the way your body learns. As Dr Lam says, we are made for both fast and slow: "Fast for quick action, slow for regeneration and recovery." Modern life gives us plenty of fast. Tai chi brings back the slow to more harmony and balance.
Come and discover how slowing down can deepen your practice and your enjoyment of tai chi.
The main purpose of the Tai Chi for Health Forum is to connect with everyone and to share knowledge and friendship. Each month there will be a theme topic, addressed by Dr Lam and invited expert/s. There will be time for questions and comments sent prior, time permitting. You will also have an opportunity to enjoy meeting other participants from all over the world. It is a great way to learn and share as a member of the global tai chi community. Connecting with other tai chi enthusiasts is so helpful! Afterwards, a link to the recording will be sent to all registered participants.
Registration in advance is required. Please email your questions or topics of interest at least two days in advance to service@drlamtaichiworkshops.com. Please put “Forum” in the subject line.
Be sure to register every month!
