Lisa Parkinson

Bio

Lisa is a Tai Chi for Health Instructor and Mental Health Registered Nurse with extensive experience in facilitating Tai Chi for Health programs and working in mental health and addictive medicine services. Lisa runs regular classes in mental health services where clients experience a range of conditions including psychological trauma, mood disorders, substance and alcohol use disorders and a range of other acute and chronic mental health conditions. Her clients consistently report an improvement in their symptoms and quality of life through their experience of tai chi.

With Rani Hughes, Occupational Therapist and Tai Chi for Health Master Trainer, Lisa has developed and delivered the Tai Chi for Mental Health instructor training, based on the Tai Chi for Arthritis program. She has also assisted Rani to deliver a number of Tai Chi for Health instructor training workshops and looks forward to ongoing work with Rani to deliver more Tai Chi for Health training.

Through her involvement with the Tai Chi for Health community, Lisa hopes to embed Tai Chi for Health programs within mental health services and enhance the overall health of all who come in contact with tai chi. She is especially interested in Tai Chi for Rehabilitation with it's emphasis on positive psychology, an approach to health she utilises in her work as a mental health nurse. Finally, Lisa welcomes the opportunity to support Tai Chi for Health instructors to learn, grow and develop their tai chi for their personal and professional development.
