Ileina Ferrier

Bio

Ileina's tai chi involvement has become a wonderful addition to her life-purpose goal of helping others reach better health.

Her personal vision is to share Dr. Lam’s programs to facilitate the creation of active, self sustaining Tai Chi for Health communities.

Ileina has been able to utilize her educational background in Developmental Psychology as a Corporate Training Coordinator for a major automaker. She spent 27 years designing and implementing flight crew training programs and integrating those into "customer first" service behaviors.

Her accomplishments include Outstanding Teacher Award by the Hawaii Pacific Gerontology Society, Innovative Community Service Award by Tai Chi for Health Institute, TCHI liaison to Silver and Fit, Tai Chi Resource to National Council on Aging and part of State of Hawaii’s State Plan for Falls Prevention.

Currently, Ileina divides her time between Hawaii maintaining fall prevention efforts, supporting instructors, her family of origin and with Arkansas, where her daughter, Kai, hubby, David and grandchildren, Leila and Duke, have recently moved from Atlanta, GA.

Tai Chi life is active in Arkansas! She enjoys sharing tai chi, supporting local instructors and creating tai chi communities here. She continues to conduct various workshops on the mainland.

She is currently with the Gerontology Research and Education Clinic Center in the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System. As their tai chi instructor, she helps to facilitate clinical demonstration projects using virtual training.

In Hawaii, since 2009, she has partnered in State Fall Prevention Initiatives with the Department of Health’s Injury Prevention Specialist, Stan Micheals. In 2015, Hawaii was recognized as having the most effective falls prevention program in the nation and continues.

Certifications include: Tai Chi for Arthritis, Tai Chi for Arthritis for Falls Prevention, Tai Chi for Rehabilitation, Seated Tai Chi, Silk Reeling, Tai Chi Fan, Sword, Chen 36, Quandao, Qigong and Depth of Sunstyle 73.
