Darci's Story:
In the summer of 2010, on the last day of physical therapy for a back injury Darci Alexander mentioned to the PT her plans for visiting a cousin and going to tai chi together. The PT then said, “If you get certified to teach tai chi I’ll hire you in my clinic!” Being shy she didn't think she could do it but for the sake of others she would overcome that shyness. She agreed to teach after they found Dr Lam's certification program. She did her own "Research Study" that very first class by testing everyone on the computerized Biodex machine. After 3 months they were all re-tested. The lady in the photo Pre-tested for fall risk for someone in their 70s and at the end of the 3 months she post-tested for fall risk for someone in their 20s!!! Darci was amazed at this wonderful outcome ~ if a new instructor could have that great of a result just by following the program she was sold!

She became a Physical Therapist Assistant specializing in Balance and Fall Prevention and regularly uses tai chi in her PTA work. She has lead weekly lunch-hour tai chi classes for employee health at the hospital. With a passion for preventing falls in our elderly population she was on the hospital's fall prevention committee. Darci has taught classes at retirement centers, the senior center and also through the city’s recreation department.
Darci has held annual World Tai Chi Day events at local parks. She has regular speaking engagements on tai chi throughout the community, from different churches and health fairs, to assisted living facilities. She is frequently asked to share at a variety of Support Groups such as support for those with breathing issues or those suffering from Fibromyalgia, MS, Parkinson’s, and Stroke. She has been featured in several articles in local publications.

Besides Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls Prevention Darci is certified in Seated TCA and TCA Part 2, Tai Chi for Rehabilitation, Tai Chi for Diabetes, Tai Chi for Osteoporosis, Tai Chi for Energy 1 and 2 and Tai Chi for Beginners. She has taught the Sun 73 and the Yang 24 forms and loves both. She has brought the first TCA and Falls Prevention training workshop to Visalia as well as Skill Builder Workshops.
She became a Master Trainer in January 2017 and is passionate about sharing this healing modality with others. She is now able to train and certify safe and effective Tai Chi instructors to help with the ever growing need.

If you would like to have her come to your area ~ she would be delighted! If a Zoom training is what you need please contact her and let her know how she can best serve you to help you serve your community.
For Darci there is no greater joy than making a difference in the lives of others.

Other

At the start of my class I tested my student (in the brown outfit) on the Biodex machine for balance. She is 79 and came out in her age bracket for fall risk... After attending Tai Chi class for just 1 month ~ twice a week, she retested at a level for someone in their 20s!
