Details

Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention is based on the Sun style of tai chi and is easy to learn, effective and safe. Regular practice improves flexibility, muscle strength and balance and has been recommended as an effective fall prevention and arthritis management activity by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Tai Chi for Arthritis programme was designed by Dr Paul Lam in conjunction with a team of medical specialists and tai chi experts and scientific studies have shown its effectiveness in assisting pain relief, quality of life, balance and falls prevention.

Who is eligible to attend this training? Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Exercise Physiologists, Certified Allied Health Assistants, Lifestyle Co-ordinators, Diversional Therapists, Health practitioners, Nurses, Tai Chi teachers and advanced Tai Chi students.

Each participant needs to be familiar with the movements in the Tai Chi for Arthritis programme  You need to purchase Tai Chi for Arthritis DVD for $35.95 (or select this program on Dr. Lam's online lessons), and the textbook "Teaching Tai Chi Effectively" by Dr Paul Lam ($21.95 or e-book  $9.99) before coming to the in-person workshop. Board Certification: Following successful completion of the workshop, you will be required to register to become a Tai Chi for Health Institute Board-certified instructor before teaching the programme. The annual fee is $40 (Standard Membership) or $70 (Premier Membership) and covers Board Certification for all your Tai Chi for Health qualifications.  You will then be listed on the TCHI website. 

Your trainer: Rani Hughes is a Master Trainer for the Tai Chi for Health Institute and an Occupational Therapist. She has devoted 25 years to learning Tai Chi from world-leading Tai Chi and Qi Gong Masters, including Professor Lun Wong, Dr Paul Lam, Master Liu Deming, and Madam Chen. She has trained hundreds of people around the world to both practice and teach tai chi and qi gong. 

This workshop will be held over 2 Fridays, (26 July & 9 August) from 9.00-5.00 pm both days. 

 

Cost

$440 for 2 day TCAFP instructor training workshop ($400 for IPC Health staff)

$220 for 1 day TCAFP update. Addiditonal tai chi updates cost $40 each
