Tai Chi for Osteoporosis blends moves from Sun and Yang styles of Tai Chi to create a short sequence designed by Dr Paul Lam, medical and Tai Chi experts. Medical studies have shown that Tai Chi improves balance, decreases falls and slows down the loss of bone density. Moves from these studies have been incorporated into the Tai Chi for Osteoporosis programme and is supported by Osteoporosis Australia.
This one-day intensive workshop is the second part of your training, with the first part being required reading and a Self-paced Instructor Preparation Package (SIPP) - see details below.

Who is eligible to attend the training? Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Exercise Physiologists, Certified Allied Health Assistants, Nurses, Diversional Therapists, Lifestyle Coordinators, Health Practicioners, Tai Chi teachers and advanced Tai Chi students.
Your trainer: Rosalie Rudduck is a physiotherapist and Master Trainer in the Tai Chi for Osteoporosis, Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls Prevention and other Tai Chi for Health programmes with the Tai Chi for Health Institute. She has Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training. Rosalie has worked extensively with people of all ages and has special interests in fall prevention and healthy ageing.
Self-paced Instructor Preparation Package (SIPP) needs to be completed prior to attending the workshop and is available from Rosalie once you are registered and payment is received. Each participant needs to be familiar with the movements in the Tai Chi for Osteoporosis programme (included in the SIPP, DVD available for $29.95) and the textbook "Teaching Tai Chi Effectively" by Dr Paul Lam ($21.95 or e-book $9.99) before coming to the in-person Part 2 workshop.
Board Certification: Following successful completion of SIPP and the workshop, you will be required to register to become a Tai Chi for Health Institute Board-certified instructor in Tai Chi for Osteoporosis before teaching the programme (if not already a member). Annual fee is $40 (Standard Membership) or $70 (Premium Membership) and covers Board Certification for all your current certificates. You will then be listed on the TCHI website.
Cost
Instructor Certificate including SIPP: $440 (early bird $420 paid in full by 4th January 2025).
Tai Chi for Osteoporosis Update $220, extra updates $50 each (maximum $100).
Cancellation is subject to a $140 administration fee.
Attendance without instructor qualifications $100.
Morning and afternoon tea supplied.
