Tai Chi for Osteoporosis
Tai Chi for Osteoporosis (TCO) was specially designed by Dr Paul Lam in conjunction with his tai chi associates and a team of medical experts. It helps to improve balance and prevent the risk of falls. The program will also improve posture, muscle strength, relaxation, fitness, and health. Based on Sun and Yang styles of tai chi, Tai Chi for Osteoporosis is easy to learn, effective, and safe. It includes some gentle weight-bearing movements that are beneficial for bone strength. It also incorporates breathing exercises and stepping in four directions. Qualified participants who successfully complete the course may be accredited by the Tai Chi for Health Institute to teach this program.

Details
Janet is a retired family physician with over 25 years of experience in learning and teaching tai chi. She has dedicated her retirement to teaching tai chi and spreading the message of the numerous health benefits and empowerment that can be gained.
Rosmarie Meyer is an enthusiastic Tai Chi teacher who started with Kung Fu, Escrima, and Qi Gong 30 years ago and has been a dedicated Tai Chi for Health teacher for 13 years, training with various masters and learning different Tai Chi forms.
The Self-paced Instructor Learning Package (SIPP) is a prerequisite before attending the in-person workshop, and a link to the online lessons module is available from Janet once you are registered and payment is received. There is approximately 20 hours of preparation to go through the material. Please try to practise each move from memory before proceeding to the next lesson. Each participant needs to be familiar with the movements in the Tai Chi for Osteoporosis programme and have read the textbook "Teaching Tai Chi Effectively"* by Dr Paul Lam before coming to the workshop. You will have access to the SIPP for 12 months, and it is a valuable teaching aid when you commence classes.
Board Certification: Following successful completion of SIPP and the workshop, you will be required to register to become a Tai Chi for Health Institute Board-certified Instructor before teaching the programme (if not already a member). The 2-year fee is AU$99 (Standard Membership) or AU$169 (Premier Membership) and covers Board Certification for all your Tai Chi for Health qualifications. You will then be listed on the TCHI website.
