The 24th Annual USA Tai Chi Workshop - Presented by Dr Paul Lam and USTCC
Learn a new program or enhance your tai chi practice in an immersive, interactive and positive setting.
Tai chi is the best mind-body activity to empower everyone to better health and stronger immunity. 27 years ago, Dr Lam's team held the first annual weeklong tai chi workshop in Sydney, Australia, to be followed a few years later in the USA. Experienced instructors work with small groups using Dr Lam's interactive learner-friendly teaching method. These annual workshops have helped numerous participants improve their tai chi to enjoy a better quality of life. What’s more, they have become members of our global community to share and help each other. That is why many travel thousands of miles to these life-changing workshops every year!
This year, we are headed back to Lake Junaluska, cradled in the gorgeous Smoky Mountains region, NC. Be enriched by the lush natural surroundings, enjoy the small, individualized classes, fun activities and the camaraderie of our tai chi family/community in person.

2. Tai Chi for Beginners, Osteoporosis, Heart Conditions and Life Instructor Training *
Over 10 million people have viewed the Tai Chi for Beginners YouTube video, many are excited about tai chi and its health benefits. You will learn a new method of introducing beginners to Yang style tai chi. This set merges seamlessly to the 24 Forms. Based on medical research, the other 3 programs contain similar forms and are designed for people with similar medical conditions. You will gain health benefits and enjoyment from learning these programs. You will be entitled to be certified to teach if you meet the requirements.
3. Tai Chi for Memory, Rehabilitation and Diabetes, and Qigong for Health Instructor Training *
You will learn the four programs and will be entitled to be certified to teach if you meet the requirements. Tai Chi for Memory is designed to prevent and improve loss of memory. Tai Chi for Rehabilitation is a unique combination of Yang, Sun, and Chen tai chi styles. Tai Chi for Diabetes is shown to improve the management of people with Diabetes. There is special synergy with them for health and the specific conditions. Almost anyone can learn these programs relatively quickly. We welcome beginners to join for better health and wellness.
4. Tai Chi for Energy (and TCE Part 2) Instructor Training Course *
NB: It would be an advantage to know the Tai Chi for Energy program
This refreshing and revitalizing program synergizes the Chen style's sophisticated spiral force with Sun style's unique and powerful Qigong. The outcome is greater internal energy and improved ability to manage stress. It is a great introduction to a faster and more sophisticated Chen style for younger participants. Beginners are welcome to join for personal development and health. You will be entitled to be certified to teach if you meet the requirements.
5. The 24 Forms **
People of almost any level of physical fitness and age can learn the world's most popular tai chi set. Based on the Yang style, it is gentle and graceful. Learning this set will give you a solid foundation to expand your skill.
6. Exploring the Depth of the 24 Forms **
Prerequisite: Be familiar with the 24 Forms
Working with essential tai chi principles, we explore the deeper meanings and internal aspects of tai chi to enhance your progress. The postures are refined to bring greater depth of enjoyment to your practice, with deeper understanding of the principles
7. NEW! Introduction to Tai Chi Cane Techniques **
Like other tools utilized in tai chi, the cane is an extension of one's body. We will explore the power of extending our energy from ourselves through the cane. We will work on the basic handling of the cane, as well as incorporating the use of the cane into common Yang Style postures.
Bring a comfortable, lightweight wooden cane.
8. Yang Style 40 Forms **
A well-constructed set based on the classical Yang style 108 Forms, a suitable set after the 24 Forms. Graceful and open-framed, Yang is the most popular Tai Chi style. This is an elegant and more traditional expression of the tai chi principles and Yang style movements.
9. Introduction to Sun Style 73 Forms **
Prerequisite: Know Tai Chi for Arthritis and TCA Part 2
Sun style tai chi contains unique and powerful Qigong ideal for self-growth and healing. It is a relatively easy to learn style and has great depth to be explored for a lifetime.
10. Exploring the Depth of Sun Style 73 Forms ***
Prerequisite: Know Sun Style 73 Forms very well
Explore the conceptual depth and inner energy of tai chi. Sink deeper into your practice with skills for mindful integration of mind and body.
11. The Combined 42 Forms ***
Containing the characteristics of Yang, Chen, Wu and Sun styles, it is well-balanced, complex and enjoyable. It is also a suitable next set after the 24 Forms or the 40 Forms.
12. The 42 Sword Forms ***
The sword is a beautiful compilation of 4 styles of tai chi, expressed through the sword. This set is composed to complement the 42 Forms.
13. Tai Chi Fan - Yang 36 Single Fan Form ***
Tai chi fan forms allow us to see how the dan tian directs spiral force when opening and closing the fan. The resulting energy can either be expressed subtly with tai chi internal principles or with force in a more physical application. Although many are attracted to fan forms for their beauty, mastering fan techniques will positively influence all of your tai chi.
14. Dancing Tai Chi ***
Prerequisite: Know Tai Chi for Arthritis and TCA Part 2
Dancing Tai Chi is a unique new tai chi form created by Dr Paul Lam and Jerry Pearson. This form weaves together traditional tai chi elements and dance techniques to provide an enjoyable free-flowing experience of the dynamics and inner energy flow of tai chi. Jerry combines over 20 years of tai chi study with 50 years as a professional dancer, choreographer, and educator to create with Dr Lam new ways to experience the beauty, grace, power, and joy of tai chi. Performed to music, it works with dance partnering and non-competitive push hands, and is perfect for those who love both Tai Chi and dance.
15. Chen Style 36 Forms ***
Characterized by softness and hardness complementing each other, fastness and slowness intermixed, Chen style is more vigorous and powered by a sophisticated spiral force (chan suu jin or Silk Reeling force).
16. Exploring the Depth of Chen Style 36 Forms ****
Prerequisite: Know Chen Style 36 Forms
