Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention (TCAFP)
Since its creation more than 20 years ago, the Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention (TCAFP) program has been supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (www.cdc.gov) plus many health departments and arthritis foundations around the world.
Millions of people globally have enjoyed the program and gained many health benefits. There are over thirty medical studies showing that it is effective for improving balance and reducing falls, as well as providing many other health benefits.
Older people are more likely to fall which can cause serious injury. Tai Chi for Arthritis has been shown by studies to prevent falls. Australian and New Zealand government departments have utilised this program to prevent the elderly from falling.
The causes of falls in the elderly include muscle weakness, poor balance and vision, lack of confidence when moving about and the effects of medication.
Many studies have shown Tai Chi as being one of the most effective approaches for preventing falls.
How does Tai Chi work?
Anyone who likes tai chi can benefit from participating in this workshop. An effective exercise for health, muscular strength, flexibility, and fitness. Tai chi is proven to do all of these and more. Additional benefits include stress relief, improved relaxation, balance, posture and immunity.
There are over 35 published studies (available at taichiforhealthinstitute.org/medical-studies) showing Dr Lam's tai chi programs are effective to improve many aspects of health. However, studies don't show anywhere near the full extent of benefits tai chi can bring! Such as empowering you to develop inner peace, strength and power, leading to more happiness and fulfilment.
