TAI CHI FOR ARTHRITIS/TAI CHI FOR ARTHRITIS FOR FALLS PREVENTION (TCAFP) SELF-PACED INSTRUCTOR PREPARATION PROGRAM.

This training is composed of a Self-Paced Instructor Preparation Package (SIPP) and a 1-day virtual live training with  Master Trainer Lorraine Noval.  The SIPP must be successfully completed before attending the live training on March 31.  Please read the details below before registering.

BACKGROUND:

Taking advantage of the innovations in technology, this training is divided into two components.  The first component is the Self-paced Instructor Preparation Program (SIPP).  The SIPP is a self-paced virtual program containing essential material to train effective and safe instructors. All you have to do is follow the sequence with Dr Lam’s video guides for every step.

After completion of the SIPP and the associated practice, you will be ready for the second component - a 1-day live interactive TCA/TCAFP Instructor Training Workshop and the two follow-up personalized Zoom sessions which make you eligible to become a Tai Chi for Health Institute (TCHI) Board Certified instructor.

INFORMATION ABOUT THIS TRAINING:

When you register and pay for this workshop, you will receive a link for the SIPP online package that you can complete in your own time and at your own pace. For the 1-day workshop (March 31, 2025), you must successfully complete the SIPP before March 20. 2025. The SIPP can take a person anywhere from 10-15 to 40-50 hours, depending on your experience.  After completing the SIPP, you will do a recording (on Zoom or an MP4) of your attempt at the TCAFP routine and forward it to the Master Trainer.  This recording and the system-generated Certificate of Completion of SIPP are your "tickets" to the 1-day instructor training.

The 1-day instructor workshop is personal. The Master Trainer will work with you to answer your questions about the program and tai chi routine, help you refine your tai chi movements, and help to ensure you can teach the program safely and effectively using the Stepwise Progressive Teaching Method.  There will be discussions, practice sessions, sharing skill and knowledge, Question and Answer portions, and most importantly, personal attention. The Master Trainer will give you feedback on what you did well and how you can improve your tai chi and teaching skills, connect you to the Tai Chi for Health Institute (TCHI), fellow instructors, Senior Trainers and offer continual support.  Registrations will be limited to 8 people.

Instructor Training Day - DATE:  This announcement is for Monday, March 31, 2025.  If you feel that you won't be done with the SIPP for the Febraury 3 training day, please contact the Master Trainer to discuss an option for a subsequent instructor training.

MATERIAL REQUIRED:

After your registration and payment for this training,  you will receive the link for your SIPP.  This link is available to you for a year, and then for as long as you continue your subscription to it.  Access to the SIPP includes:

  • Online Tai Chi Lessons subscription to Tai Chi for Arthritis/Tai Chi for Arthritis for Falls Prevention
  • 14 instructional video clips by Dr Lam to guide you through every part.
  • 6 webinars by Dr Lam covering the topics and beyond (normally priced at US$15 each for 30 days)
  • References
  • Online Quizzes – Do them as many times as you like to refine your knowledge base
  • Guides to the 1-day instructor virtual workshop

You will also receive:

1.  Teaching Tai Chi Effectively book

2. Tai Chi for Arthritis for Falls Prevention Handbook

Upon successful completion of the training, your Board Certification fee (your license to teach) will be paid for the first year.

ADDITIONAL Notes:

-- For this training, you need to be seen "nose to toes" and be facing your camera's eye so the Master Trainer can help you refine and improve your delivery of the program.

-- Once you have sent the recording and Certificate of Completion to the Master Trainer, you will receive the Zoom link for the 1-day instructor training workshop.

-- Please install Zoom software prior to the start of the event for the best experience. Download the Zoom software at: https://zoom.us/download

-- During the online workshop, you will need a strong internet connection and audio speakers to watch and listen to the Master Trainer and each other. You will also need a camera in your computer (or a webcam) and microphone, as well as space around you, so that you can practice and show your movements. You must be seen from head to toe. Smartphones are not acceptable since their visual field is too narrow.

-- An HDMI cord can be used to connect your computer, notebook or tablet to a TV screen so you have a larger picture.

-- At the completion of the 1-day workshop, you will schedule a time to meet with your Master Trainer for two one-on-one Zoom sessions. If you have met the requirements to be a certified instructor, the Master Trainer will pay your Board Certification fee and arrange for your receipt of your training completion certificates.  If you have not met the requirements, the Master Trainer will work with you to facilitate your completion of the training.
