What is Tai Chi for Arthritis 2?

Dr. Paul Lam and his team of medical and tai chi experts designed the Tai Chi for Arthritis program to be safe and effective for people with arthritis; it also provides health benefits and can improve almost anyone’s quality of life.

Millions of people around the world have gained health benefits from the TCA program. Many scientific studies have shown that the TCA program relieves pain, improves quality of life and makes people feel better. Studies also shown the program prevent falls; that is why the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC.gov) recommends it for this purpose. It is supported by many Arthritis Foundations including the USA, Australia and UK.

TCA has twelve moves, and many people told Dr Lam they wanted a longer set to enhance their practice. Dr Lam has carefully selected a further 9 forms to add to the original TCA to create a more exciting set. Containing more sophisticated moves and subtle changes in direction, TCA2 is an ideal tool for beginners looking to expand their repertoire and develop their knowledge of the tai chi principles, and to gain more health benefits.

TCA2 is now an instructor qualifying workshop; check your insurance to make sure you are covered to teach the set without Board Certification.  Dr Lam strongly recommends everyone to learn this more challenging set.

Requirements

Anyone is welcome to attend, but in order to get the most from the workshop participants need to be able to perform the set form memory. Non-instructors are welcome as this workshop is designed to enhance your knowledge and skills. 

By the Completion of the Workshop you will:

Know the Tai Chi for Arthritis set at a deeper level

Understand how tai chi improves health and relaxation

Have improved your tai chi skill and knowledge

All participants will receive a "has completed" or "attendance" certificate

Clothing

Wear loose comfortable clothes and flat shoes suitable for exercise.

Tai Chi for Health Program Updates

At this workshop instructors have an opportunity to update their other Tai Chi for Health certifications. You will need to complete a written assignment before the workshop, and an administration fee applies.

 

 

Details

This workshop will provide instructor certification/update for Tai Chi for Arthritis Part 2 (TCA2) and Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis (STCA). Participants may register for TCA2, STCA, or both. CEUs available. Participants should have prior TCA or TCAFP certification if they plan to attend. 

Updates for both programs available. Participants may also update TCA/TCAFP, TCR, and/or TCD for an additional fee. You will need to complete a written assignment before the workshop, and an administration fee applies. If you are only updating a certification, you must attend day two of the workshop (Sunday), but you may attend both days for no additional cost. 

Anyone is welcome to attend "just for fun," at a reduced rate, in order to enhance your knowledge and skills. To get the most out of the workshop, you should be familiar with the form(s).

The workshop will be 9:00 am to 5:00 pm each day. Check-in begins at 8:30 am. Lunch is on your own. Please bring any snacks or special beverages you may require. Water and tea will be available for breaks.

The Institute requires you to view the entire program DVD(s) (or online lessons) for these programs and read Chapters 4,5,6, and 11 of Dr. Lam's 'Teaching Tai Chi Effectively' book before the workshop. These materials are NOT included in your registration fee. The DVDs and print or eBook are available at http://taichiproductions.com. Paid registrants will recieve a discount code with your welcome letter.

Certification requirements: To assist your study and to qualify for the certificate, participants will need to fill in a release/waiver, application form, and questionnaire before the workshop, and then pass a written quiz and demonstrate the form. Materials will be emailed to you when you register. To receive the final teaching certificate you will need to be board certified with Tai Chi for Health Institute. This is an annual fee.   • $125 Seated TCA Certification only 
  • $265 TCA2 Certification + Seated TCA Certification 
  • $120 TCA2 Update (must attend day two, but you are encouraged to attend both days at no extra cost)
  • $100 Seated TCA Update (must attend day two, but you are encouraged to attend both days at no extra cost)
  • $150 TCA2 Update + STCA Update
  • $40 for each additional update (TCA/FP, TCR, or TCD)
  • $50/day "Just for Fun" (may attend one or both days; no certification, but will recieve an attendance certificate)
