Details

IMPORTANT DETAILS BELOW - PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY

This workshop is the seated version of Tai Chi for Arthritis, although its principles can be used for other programs. Certification in Tai Chi for Arthritis or Tai Chi for Arthritis for Fall Prevention is required before attending this workshop, or you may also attend the Stage 1 and Stage 2 workshop and preparation November 6.

Virtual - What's Different?

1. You get to attend this workshop from the comfort of your own home or office!

2. Zoom Platform - Download the free Zoom app and review the tutorials so you will be familiar with it prior to the workshop. Senior Trainer Tracey will hold a Zoom Tech Check so you can practice various features and make sure you can be seen head to toe. This will be held Thursday October 28, 7-8pm EDT. Her contact information is below should you need to reach her or ask any questions about this session.

3. Your Introductions - Introductions will be done as usual, but virtually using Breakout Rooms. You will be paired with another participant, interview each other, then introduce each other to the rest of the participants.

4. Following the workshop, you will meet with the Master Trainer (Jocelyn) for an individual Zoom session where you will teach her "Waving Hands" using the Stepwise Progressive Teaching Method and demonstrate the Seated warm ups, cool downs and forms.

6. Instead of the customary 15 minute tea breaks, we will have 5 minute breaks approximately every hour for a screen break. Please have a drink or snack nearby. We will have the customary 1 hour lunch break.

7. I will send you the STCA quiz to complete BEFORE the workshop, and you will email me the completed quiz as well as a video of you performing the STCA forms. (This demonstration is preparatory and does not determine your certification.) A great way to do the video is to record it on Zoom to the cloud. Then you just send me the link. This also gives you an opportunity in advance of your Zoom Tech Check to see if your lighting, space, etc. is good, and you can be seen head to toe in your demonstration.

Who Can Come?

Anyone currently certified in TCA or TCAFP, and anyone attending the Stage 2 TCA/TCAFP workshop November 6.

Location

This is a virtual workshop using the Zoom platform. Please download Zoom (you may use the free version). If you haven't used this platform before, Zoom provides videos to help you learn how it works. This is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Find a space in your home suitable for practice, and experiment with Zoom so you learn how to stay within the frame. I will need to see you head to toe. I recommend using painter's tape on the floor to outline the area you will need to stay within. If available, I recommend using a HDMI connection to a larger screen or your television, so you have a larger image.

You can also check out the following YouTube videos from Dr. Lam and Becky Rahe for important Zoom Tech information:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jE2FjM1jlKI and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PW-0O_HdSjk&t=8s.
