You may register for 1) Tai Chi for Arthritis and Tai Chi for Arthritis for Fall Prevention, 2) Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis (Note prerequisite) or 3) both workshops.

Three Day Overview

DAY 1 - 2: Tai Chi For Arthritis and Tai Chi for Arthritis for Fall Prevention Instructor Qualification Training

DAY 3: Seated Tai Chi For Arthritis Instructor Qualification Training - MUST BE TCA OR TCAFP CERTIFIED TO QUALIFY FOR SEATED TCA BOARD CERTIFICATION unless you attend all three days.

Preparation

Prepare by working with the TCA and Seated TCA DVDs as much as possible. This will enable you to gain the maximum benefits and enjoyment from this workshop.

The book “Teaching Tai Chi Effectively” and the newly revised "Tai Chi for Arthritis & Fall Prevention Handbook" will be our texts for this workshop. Review of these texts, especially the chapters on safety, teaching effectively, Stepwise Progressive Teaching Method and Working with Chronic Conditions is part of your preparation.

The dvd, text, handbook and other resources are available at www.taichiproductions.com or by calling the US office at 906-217-2000. Paid participants receive a 20% discount.  A code will be given to you when your booking is confirmed and payment received.

Please arrive to the workshop scent free in consideration for those with perfume allergies. Wear loose comfortable clothes and flat shoes suitable for exercise.

Who will be Certified to Teach the Program?

Participants who have met all requirements on completion of the workshop will be eligible to be certified by the Tai Chi for Health Institute to teach this program. Please see the following link for details of the certification process:  http://taichiforhealthinstitute.org/faq-for-becoming-a-board-certified-instructor/. A nominal annual membership fee is required. In addition, you must be CPR/First Aid certified.

Updates

At this workshop qualified instructors will have an opportunity to update their existing qualifications. There may be an administration fee and you will need to complete a written assignment and submit it no later than two weeks prior to the workshop. Be prepared to demonstrate the form associated with the program you are updating. Reminder: Updates are required every two years.

Update assignments are due by April 13.

Registration Deadline:  April 13 (Late registration will delay certification and may result in an additional fee.)

CEU Credits

6.5 contact hours for CEUs per day are available for a small additional fee for Physical Therapists (PTs & PTAs), Occupational Therapists (OTs and OTAs), Advance Practice Registered Nurses (APRN), Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) & American College of Sports Medicine Certified Professionals (ACSM). Every state and certifying organization has different requirements, and these requirements are subject to frequent changes.  TCHI, as with all CE providing organizations, require that each participant check with their certifying organization to verify that they will accept these CEUs.

The American College of Sports Medicine's Professional Education Committee certifies that the Tai Chi for Health Institute meets the criteria for official ACSM Approved Provider status from 2015-December 2018. Approved Provider #701292.

The Tai Chi for Health Institute is approved as a provider of continuing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. The course offering is approved for up to 16.5 contact hours applicable to APRN, RN or LPN relicensure. KS State Board of Nursing Provider Number (SP1426-0119).

Cost

$200 Early Bird registered & paid before March 26, 2018; AFTER $250 (TCA & TCAFP Days 1 - 2)

$125 Early Bird registered & paid before March 26, 2018; AFTER $150 (Seated TCA Day 3)

$300 Early Bird registered & paid before March 26, 2018; AFTER $375 (TCA, TCAFP & Seated TCA Days 1-3)

$40 per TCH update (TCA, TCAFP, STCA, exempt from this fee) (Other updates available: TCR, TCD, TCE, TCA2) Must attend Day 2 or Day 3 at above registration fees. If updating a TCA related program, you may attend Day 1 also at no additional fee.

All updates will have an assignment to be returned with copies of TCH certificate(s) and CPR/First Aid card.
