What is Tai Chi for Arthritis 2?

Dr. Paul Lam and his team of medical and tai chi experts designed the Tai Chi for Arthritis program to be safe and effective for people with arthritis; it also provides health benefits and can improve almost anyone’s quality of life.

Millions of people around the world have gained health benefits from the TCA program. Many scientific studies have shown that the TCA program relieves pain, improves quality of life and makes people feel better. Studies also shown the program prevent falls; that is why the Center of Disease Control and Prevention ( recommends it for this purpose. It is supported by many Arthritis Foundations including the USA, Australia and UK.

TCA has twelve moves, and many people told Dr Lam they wanted a longer set to enhance their practice. Dr Lam has carefully selected a further 9 forms to add to the original TCA to create a more exciting set. Containing more sophisticated moves and subtle changes in direction, TCA2 is an ideal tool for beginners looking to expand their repertoire and develop their knowledge of the tai chi principles, and to gain more health benefits.

TCA2 is now an instructor qualifying workshop; check your insurance to make sure you are covered to teach the set without Board Certification.  Dr Lam strongly recommends everyone to learn this more challenging set.

Anyone is welcome to attend, but in order to get the most from the workshop participants need to be able to perform the set form memory. Non-instructors are welcome as this workshop is designed to enhance your knowledge and skills. 

By the Completion of the Workshop you will:

All participants will receive a "has completed" or "attendance" certificate


Wear loose comfortable clothes and flat shoes suitable for exercise.

Tai Chi for Health Program Updates

At this workshop instructors have an opportunity to update their other Tai Chi for Health certifications. You will need to complete a written assignment before the workshop, and an administration fee applies.




Tai Chi for Arthritis Part 2 on Day 1 - Instructor Certification, Update and/or Skill Builder. Advance practice with TCA2 dvd or online lessons, and Teaching Tai Chi Effectively book required. Prerequisite for TCA2 certification is certification in TCA or TCAFP. If registering as skill builder only, please indicate so in "Participant Comments" section when registering (TCA2 is excellent review in preparation for Sun 73.)

Updates on Day 1 only - Updates available in TCA, TCAFP, STCA, TCA2, TCB, TCE, TCE2, TCD, TCM, TCO, TCR. Registration and assignments required. Additional fee may be required. Be prepared to demonstrate the form associated with the program you are updating.

Sun 73 Skill Builder on Day 2 - Attendance Day 1 and/or knowledge of TCA and TCA2 highly recommended (TCA/TCA2 movements will only be briefly reviewed to allow time to focus on Sun 73 movements separate from those.) Review of Sun 73 dvd or online lessons in advance of the workshop will result in a more successful outcome. To register for Sun 73, please indicate so in "Participant Comments" section when registering.

CEU Credits - CEU's available with prior notice for Day 1 only

6.5 contact hours for CEUs per day are available for a small additional fee for Physical Therapists (PTs & PTAs), Occupational Therapists (OTs and OTAs), Advance Practice Registered Nurses (APRN), Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) & American College of Sports Medicine Certified Professionals (ACSM). Every state and certifying organization has different requirements, and these requirements are subject to frequent changes.  TCHI, as with all CE providing organizations, require that each participant check with their certifying organization to verify that they will accept these CEUs.

The Tai Chi for Health Institute is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing.  The course offering is approved for up to 16.5 contact hours applicable to APRN, RN, or LPN relicensure.   KS State Board of Nursing Provider Number (SP1460-0321).

The Indiana Professional Licensing Agency has approved the Tai Chi for Health Institute, c/o The Home Gym, Inc. to provide continuing education contact hours to Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapist Assistants. This workshop (Tai Chi for Health) provides a maximum of 14 OT/OTA contact hours. Provider #98000561A

As a Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the Kansas Physical Therapy Association has approved the Tai Chi for Health Institute to provide continuing education contact hours to Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants. $250 for Day 1 TCA2 and Day 2 Sun 73 ($200 early bird rate if registered and paid prior to September 5)

$150 standard rate for Day 1 - TCA2 Instructor Qualification or TCA2 Update ($125 early bird rate if registered and paid prior to Sept. 5)

$75 skill builder rate (no update/certification) for Day 1

$100 for Day 2 Sun 73 ($75 early bird rate if registered and paid prior to September 5)

If attending both TCA2 and Sun 73 as skill builders (no TCA2 certification/updates) the fee is $150 early bird or $175 standard for both days.
