What is Tai Chi for Memory?
Studies have shown tai chi improves memory and brain health. Dr Lam's team merged medical research and traditional Chinese medicine with tai chi to create an easy to learn program. It is especially useful for people with memory loss, Alzheimer's disease, or similar conditions. It is also designed to prevent these conditions.

Dr Paul Lam, a family physician in Sydney, Australia, is a world leader in the field of tai chi for health improvement.  The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC.gov) recommends his Tai Chi for Arthritis Program. Dr Lam has been studying tai chi for over forty years.  He is proficient in different styles and has created several Tai Chi for Health programs that have improved the health of millions of people worldwide.

Prepare by working with the Tai Chi for Memory DVD or the Online lessons and the Teaching Tai Chi Effectively book or ebook as much as possible. The DVD/lessons and book are essential requirements for certification for instructor of this program. What To Wear

Wear loose comfortable clothes and flat shoes suitable for exercise. 

Updates

Current instructors can request Tai Chi for Health certificate updates with advance notice and submitting an assignment one month prior to the workshop.An administration fee applies and a written assignment must be submitted prior to the workshop.
NB Assignments submitted late incur an admin fee.

It can be taught to people with different levels of cognitive impairment including memory loss. Studies have shown tai chi improves memory and brain health. 

At the conclusion of the workshop

·   Learn how to teach this program safely and effectively

·   Gain knowledge of what is Tai Chi and how it helps people with memory loss

·   Be able to perform the Tai Chi for Memory set

Who is eligible to attend this training?

Suitable participants include: current Tai Chi for Health instructors. If people don’t have a current Tai Chi for Health qualification, they will need up to 4 hrs face to face time with the Master Trainer to complete the assessment. Eligiblity criteria includes occupational therapist, physiotherapist, leisure and lifestyle workers, diversional therapists, nurses, tai chi teachers and other fitness and health professionals. 

Tai Chi for Health updates

Current instructors can request Tai Chi for Health certificate updates with advance notice and submitting an assignment one month prior to the workshop. Cost: $45 per program.

Your trainers

Rani Hughes is an occupational therapist and master trainer in various Tai Chi for Health programs. She has been teaching tai chi for over 20 years. 


 

Cost

$430 instructor certification

Cancellation two weeks prior will have a $50 administration fee. If cancellation occurs after this time, $100 administration fee will occur. 

Updates for other Tai Chi for Health programs are available for $45 each program. A written assignment is required for these updates as well as a 1:1 Zoom meeting to go through the tai chi movements.
