Tai Chi for Diabetes

 What is Tai Chi for Diabetes?

Tai Chi for Diabetes is a tai chi form, especially designed by Dr Paul Lam in conjunction with his tai chi associates and a team of medical experts.  Based on Sun and Yang style tai chi, Tai Chi for Diabetes is easy to learn, effective and safe.  It is designed to improve the management of diabetes.

The program will help to increase flexibility and muscle strength, and increase heart/lung activity, align posture, improve balance and integrate the mind and body.

Requirements

Dr Lam strongly recommends that you study the Tai Chi for Diabetes DVD or online lessons as it will help you to gain more from the workshop. 

Anyone is welcome to attend, but to be eligible to be certified as an instructor, please check the recommended qualifications listed below.                           

 

  • Physical therapists or physiotherapists
  • Tai chi teachers or advanced students
  • Exercise instructors
  • Other similar professionals

 

Participants will receive either an attendance or instructor/leader’s certificate.

If you are currently qualified as an Instructor through the National Martial Arts Instructor Accreditation Scheme, you will be qualified as a Tai Chi for Health Instructor upon successful completion of the program. All other persons will be qualified as Leaders of the program.

This is a 2-day Tai Chi for Diabetes (TCD) instructor training workshop.  Instructors will be invited to join the Tai Chi for Health Institute to receive Board Certification and the benefits of TCHI membership.

Practice with the Tai Chi for Diabetes DVD prior to the workshop is required and will enhance your enjoyment of the workshop.  

Various updates are available.  Those wishing to update are encouraged to attend both days, but are only required to attend on the second day. A written workshop assignment will be required for those wishing to update and only attend day 2)

Continuing education is available: Up to 13.5

 

Requirements  Tai Chi for Diabetes (DVD), Teaching Tai Chi Effectively (book). Both can be purchased at Tai Chi Production www.taichiproductions.com. A discount code will be sent to you when you register for the workshop.

Updates $125 Must attend day 2.    Multiple updates with attendence  $40 each additional update.      Update assignments are required for each update requested. Assignments will be sent after registration.

CEU Certification fee additional $25 if required.
CEU Credits –Up to 13.5 contact hours for CEUs for Physical Therapists (PTs & PTAs), Occupational Therapists (OTs and OTAs), Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Licensed Mental Health Technicians (LMHT), & American College of Sports Medicine Certified Professionals (ACSMP).
