What is Tai Chi for Diabetes?
Tai Chi for Diabetes is a tai chi form, especially designed by Dr Paul Lam in conjunction with his tai chi associates and a team of medical experts. Based on Sun and Yang style tai chi, Tai Chi for Diabetes is easy to learn, effective and safe. It is designed to improve the management of diabetes.
The program will help to increase flexibility and muscle strength, and increase heart/lung activity, align posture, improve balance and integrate the mind and body.

On successful completion of this two day intensive workshop, you will be provided with the necessary skills and knowledge to conduct safe and effective modified tai chi for diabetes classes. Tai Chi for Diabetes is a program specially designed by Dr. Paul Lam in conjunction with a team of medical specialists and tai chi experts. Based on the Sun and Yang style Tai Chi, Tai Chi for Diabetes is easy to learn, effective and safe. It is designed to prevent and improve the control of diabetes. The program will improve health and wellness.

Who is eligible to attend this training?
Suitable participants include: Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Tai Chi teachers and advanced students, Nurses, Health professionals (eg doctors), Accredited ExerciseInstructors, Certified Allied Health Assistants.
Rani Hughes is an occupational therapist and master trainer in various Tai Chi for Health programs. Rani enjoys teaching and has trained hundreds of Tai Chi for Health instructors. She has taught tai chi for over twenty years to a diverse range of people including people with arthritis, diabetes and people experiencing mental illness. She has taught tai chi across Australia, New Zealand, Sth Korea, Sri Lanka and India.
Prepare by working with the Tai Chi for Diabetes DVD (or online lessons) as much as possible.It is recommended a minimum of 10 hrs of practice with the DVD. It will enable you to gain the maximum benefits and enjoyment from this workshop.
The book "Teaching Tai Chi Effectively" will be our text for this workshop. Review of this text, and especially the chapters on safety, teaching effectively, Stepwise Progressive Teaching Method

To meet Covid requirements the number of participants permitted will be limited to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all. The venue and organisers will adhere to COVID safe guidelines current at the time of our event observing safe distancing and wearing of masks if required. To comply with COVID restrictions, no food or drink will be provided at the workshop, you must arrange your own. If this workshop cannot proceed face to face due to COVID restrictions, we will transfer the workshop onto Zoom on the same dates.
If the workshop needs to be cancelled on the directions of the Department of Health, the wrokshop will move to Zoom. No refund will be available if the workshop needs to transfer to Zoom platform. General cancellation fee is $75 if cancellation occurs more than 48 hours prior to the commencement of the workshop. No refund is available within 48 hours of the course’s commencement.
