Thank you for taking a few moments to thoroughly read the following information before you register.
This workshop is going to be out of the ordinary - something exciting has aligned in a very special space!
Your choice - for you is this a 2 or 3 Day event? What is being offered? TCA Suite Days 1 & 2, TCA2 Enhancement and Sun 73 Day 3.
https://www.thetravel.com/underrated-but-scenic-alternative-to-sedona-clarkdale/
Together with our hosts in Northern Arizona, we have been growing steadily a community of TCA instructors - now generations deep - which is a natural progression of continuously evolving existing instructors, participants evolving to become instructors, everyone desiring new skills and next steps.
Days 1&2 will focus on TCA, TCAFP, Seated TCA, and for those who are registered and prepared TCA2.
Day 3 we will enhance TCA2 skills and for those who are prepared develop the flow of Sun 73 forms. With the help of Senior Trainers, we will be able to break out into small groups to focus in skills at the appropriate level for each participant.
We've envisioned a 3 day event that will empower as many people as possible to join in re-certifying their TCA Suite certifications, adding new ones, and for first time certifiers who are well prepared prior to the training days by taking classes from other instructors, working with Dr Paul Lam's Self-Paced Instructor Program (SIPP) and/or Dr Lam's materials which are required for all instructors (12 Lessons TCA DVD, Teaching Tai Chi Effectively book, TCAFP Handbook).
We will convene in a delightful historic town, play in a beautiful hall with majestic views all around us as we take our breaks and stroll the quiet plaza, enjoy the delights of an authentic French patisserie, take in the bounty of nature and more.
Tai Chi for Arthritis (TCA) / TCA for Fall Prevention (TCAFP) Instructor Qualification Training, with options for:
- First-Time TCA/TCAFP Instructor Certification, with the option to add Seated TCA if well prepared and approved by Heather.
- Previously Certified, needing to reinstate your TCA/TCAFP certifications (more than 2.5 years since your last certification) with the option to add Seated TCA.
- Current TCA/TCAFP instructors to re-certify/update their current TCH certifications and/or add Seated TCA
- Skill Development / Just for Fun - space permitting for those who want to deepen their existing skills.
Welcome! Thank you for taking this step for your own health and wellness in addition to gaining a powerful skill set for serving others in your community. We look forward to supporting your Tai Chi for Health journey.
This workshop is designed to train participants to safely and effectively deliver instruction in the Tai Chi for Arthritis / Tai Chi for Arthritis for Falls Prevention (TCA/TCAFP) program to others.
TCA is the Tai Chi for Health Institute's flagship program, recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for preventing falls and increasing overall health of participants. TCA is also recommended by Arthritis Foundations, National Council on Aging, Health and Wellness Agencies and Health Departments around the world. Many people who teach Seated TCA are amazed at how much depth they gain for themselves and their participants. STCA engages the mind-body connection and is fun to play with all skill levels and abilities, so it makes for a great bridge in mixed-level classes and for bringing new participants into an existing class. A simple application form, questionnaire, and release/waiver will be sent to all who register.
Your preparation / pre-requisites:
- Participants study/practice a minimum of 20-30 hours is recommended, with the required Tai Chi for Arthritis video program (2 DVD set or online version), the Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls Prevention Handbook and the Teaching Tai Chi Effectively book prior to the class, along with preparing and completing required assignment at least 10 days prior to workshop start date.
- Videos of you performing the TCA movements are strongly encouraged as a tool for self-discovery of tai chi forms and preparation accountability partnership, can be emailed to Heather for review prior to the workshop.
- By the end of our time together we will be able to demonstrate basic ability to follow the program using the prescribed teaching method and proficiently demonstrate the warm up, cool down, basic 6 tai chi moves (DVD 1), extended 6 tai chi moves to the left (DVD 2), including seated. Further details for your time efficient preparation will be provided in your email welcome package after you register and submit payment.
- Participants who meet the requirements for certification will be awarded digital "Instructor Certification” with an invitation from Dr. Paul Lam/ Tai Chi for Health Institute to register online to become Board Certified Instructor with Tai Chi for Health Institute. Those who need more time to prepare will work with the MT to meet the requirements prior to receiving certification. Board Certified Instructor Annual fee (Australian $40, approx. US $27) is paid after the workshop to TCHI. Please read http://taichiforhealthinstitute.org/faq-for-becoming-a-board-certified-instructor/
