Tai Chi for Beginners

What is Tai Chi for Beginners?

Dr Lam and his team of tai chi experts composed this program, based on the most popular Yang style 24 Forms Tai Chi, to be learner-friendly. The Beginners set gives students an easy-to-learn format that leads to a solid foundation. The program takes learners on an enjoyable journey to better health and harmony through the power of tai chi, building in steps that incorporate warm-ups, Qigong, stepping exercises, foundation movements, and exploring the connections between movements. It is both a safe and a satisfying program.

This training has two parts, a self-paced online portion and a live interactive portion. The Self-Paced Instructor Preparation Package (SIPP) is a self-paced virtual program containing essential material plus instruction in the basic movements to train effective and safe instructors. All you have to do is follow the sequence with Dr Lam’s video guides for every step. Complete the quizzes at the end of each unit to move on, and at the completion of the SIPP you download your Certificate of Completion to send to the Master Trainer.

After completion of the SIPP, you are ready for the live interactive instructor training workshop to be eligible to become a Tai Chi for Health Institute (TCHI) board-certified instructor. All TCHI Master Trainers around the world can conduct this workshop as listed online at the Tai Chi for Health Institute (tchi.org) website. The listing will indicate whether it is offered on a virtual platform or in-person, and how the hours (minimum of 8) are distributed into 1 or 2 sessions.

The live workshop is very personal. The Master Trainer will work with you to answer your questions, help to improve your tai chi, and ensure you can teach the program safely and effectively.  There will be discussions, practice sessions, and sharing of skills and knowledge, Question and Answer portions, and, most importantly, personal interaction. The Master Trainer will give you feedback on what you did well and how you can improve your tai chi and teaching skills and connect you to the Tai Chi for Health Institute (TCHI), fellow instructors, and Senior Trainers and offer continual support.

Normally priced at USD 80, your link will allow you to purchase it at a discount of 30%. You must go to Online Tai Chi Workshops and purchase this separately from paying your course fee to the Master Trainer. It must be completed before the live interactive training. Allow 25-70 hours, on your schedule, and forward the Certificate of Completion to the trainer to qualify you for participation in the live interactive workshop. Details

Join us to learn how to most effectively teach a foundation course based on Yang style tai chi chuan.  This training has two parts. The prerequisite is completion of the Self-Paced Instructor Preparation Program (SIPP), requiring about 25+ hours.  This is purchased separately by each participant using a special link and workshop discount code (sent after you register for the course). Please register and start on the SIPP asap.  You may work at your own pace, and the online course will save your work as you proceed through the units.  Participants who pause in the online course to practice the movements when prompted have more enjoyment during the live training.  Participants who do not prepare sufficiently may require additional time before achieving the standard for instructor certification.

The live in-person full-day portion will complete the training.  Breathing techniques, foundation Qigong, Yang style stepping, and refinement of the six basic movements are reviewed, as well as learning how Dr Lam's teaching method produces lasting results.

Share this time to become a better instructor and to network with other quality instructors.

Cost

The SIPP is purchased separately.  A workshop coupon code will be sent after your registration is received.  The retail price of the SIPP is $80, reduced with the 30% off coupon to about $56.

The certification fee is also separate, approximately $27 USD per year, processed after successful completion of the training.

The fee for the live in-person training is $250 if received by September 19th.  As of September 20th the fee is $285.
