This is a 2-Day Instructor Certification Workshop for Tai Chi for Arthritis (TCA), Fall Prevention (TCAFP), and seated TCA (STCA).  Recertification in other programs are also available - contact Bill

The Tai Chi for Arthritis program was created by Dr. Paul Lam and his team of medical and tai chi experts over 20 years ago. More than 30 medical studies have shown it to improve health and quality of life for almost everyone.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC.gov) supports this program for fall prevention, and it is a tier 3 funded program from the National Council on Aging (NCOA) and supported by arthritis foundations around the world. Tai chi is proven to improve immunity, reduce falls, reduce pain, reduce stress, and improve many other aspects of health.

Dr Lam also created a seated version of TCA that can be enjoyed by anyone wishing to practice tai chi sitting down. People with almost any chronic condition can learn to improve their health and mobility. This is also a safe easy-to-learn program that relieves pain and improves health and quality of life. Many people wanted to try tai chi, but mobility issues caused them to hesitate. This program offers a safe and effective way to start learning tai chi; it will also provide health benefits and improve almost anyone’s quality of life.

Based on the Sun style of tai chi these programs are easy to learn, effective, and safe. It improves flexibility & muscle strength, increases heart/lung activity, aligns posture, improves balance, and integrates the mind and body. Qualified participants who successfully complete the course will be eligible to become board-certified by the Tai Chi for Health Institute to teach this program.

To Register click the "REGISTER FOR THIS WORKSHOP" green button above these details.  Previously certified instructors applying for updates may be required to log in to register for this workshop.  If you have difficulties logging in or forgot your password, use the "Lost Password" link to reset your password.  If you still have difficulties, you may have to contact service@tchi.org for further instructions.

Registrants should receive a confirmation message with additional details and payment instructions within 24 to 48 hours of your registration.  Upon payment confirmation, you will receive a free registration link to the Self-Paced Instructor Preparation Package (SIPP) for Step 1 below.  The SIPP will be your online study and reference guide as you complete the instructor qualification process.

There are two steps to complete for instructor qualification:

Step 1 - Complete the Self-paced Instructor Preparation Package (SIPP) Program

What is SIPP - A self-paced virtual program personally studying with Dr. Lam - SIPP Provides the Basic Fundamentals of Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention.  The SIPP provides the essential material to prepare effective and safe Tai Chi for Arthritis Instructors.  Participants follow the lessons and sequence with Dr. Lam’s video guides for every step.  You must complete the SIPP training to continue to Step 2 with the Master Trainer.

Depending on your experience, the average time to complete the SIPP is 20 to 35 hours when approached at a reasonable pace.  Send Bill your certificate before the next Step.  Everything you need to begin the SIPP training will be sent upon payment confirmation.

Step 2 - Attend 2-Day Workshop with Master Trainer: Live in-person or Zoom workshop conducted over 1 or 2 days to complete eligibility for becoming a Tai Chi for Health Institute qualified instructor in the Tai Chi for Arthritis for Fall Prevention program.  Any TCHI Master Trainers (MTs) around the world can conduct this training in either a live or virtual training listed on the Tai Chi for Health Institute (tchi.org) website.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

There will be discussions, practice sessions, small group sharing of skills and knowledge, Question and Answer portions, and, most importantly, personal instruction. The Master and Senior Trainers will give you feedback on what you did well; and how you can improve your tai chi and teaching skills; connect you to the Tai Chi for Health Institute (TCHI), fellow instructors, and Senior Trainers, and offer continual support.
