It includes 14 video lessons and self discovery sections on safety, what arthritis is and how tai chi works to improve quality of life, the Teaching Method and more.  All you have to do is to follow the sequence with Dr. Lam’s video guides for every step.

  • Also includes 6 webinars (normal price $15 each)
  • Online quizzes do these as many times as you like to refine your knowledge base
  • References and guides

When you register and pay for this workshop, you will receive a discount code to purchase the SIPP online package that you can complete in your own time. Do enroll asap because you should complete it before attending the Zoom workshop. Depending on your experience, the average time to complete SIPP is 20-40 hours and is done at your own pace. Interactive Zoom: Instructor Qualification Tai Chi for Arthritis for Fall Prevention - part two of the workshop is conducted over 1 day to complete eligibility for becoming a Tai Chi for Health Institute Qualified instructor in the Tai Chi for Arthritis for Fall Prevention program.

This Interactive Zoom workshop is personal. Cathi and the Senior Trainer will work with you to answer your questions, help improve your tai chi, and ensure you can teach the program safely and effectively through the Stepwise Progressive Teaching Method. This is the Fine Tuning portion of the training! It will be a positive, fun, enjoyable and nonjudgmental, safe environment to learn in.

There will be:

  • Discussions
  • Practice sessions
  • Sharing of skills and knowledge
  • Question and Answer portion
  • Personal instruction. Cathi will give you feedback on what you did well; how you can improve your tai chi and teaching skills, review essential principles, safety, warm ups and cool downs and more.
  • Connection to the Tai Chi for Health Institute (TCHI), fellow instructors, and Senior Trainers, and others for offering continual support.

Before the workshop: There will be a technical check to learn about zoom (see under location) and it will include a time for you to demonstrate your understanding of the form. This does not need to be perfect but will give you something to work on and Cathi to review.

There is a no fail policy which means if you do not meet the passing requirements then you will have time to continue preparation and learning after the workshop. When you feel you are ready (after about 2-4 weeks) then a second 1:1 zoom will be scheduled.

What is Tai Chi for Arthritis for Fall Prevention?

The Tai Chi for Arthritis program was created by Dr. Paul Lam and his team of medical and tai chi experts almost 20 years ago. More than 30 medical studies have proven it to improve health and quality of life for almost everyone. People around the world have gained health benefits from it. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC.gov) support this program for fall prevention, it is a tier 3 funded program from the National Council on Aging (NCOA), and arthritis foundations around the world support it. Tai chi is proven to improve immunity, reduce falls, reduce pain, reduce stress, and improve many other aspects of health and quality of life.

Based on the Sun style of tai chi, Tai Chi for Arthritis for Fall Prevention (TCAFP) is easy to learn, effective and safe. It improves flexibility, muscle strength, increases heart/lung activity, aligns posture, improves balance, and integrates the mind and body.

The TCAFP program includes warm up and cool down exercises, the teaching method, knowledge about arthritis and the cause of falls, and how to teach this program safely.  This program is the same as the Tai Chi for Arthritis program with the addition of a specialized module to further enhance its efficacy in preventing falls.

Suitable participants include health and fitness professionals, experienced tai chi students or anyone interested in learning to teach the Tai Chi for Arthritis program. All are welcome! Come to build skills.
