Bio

Heather Chalon, MPH, Master Trainer TCHI, Member TCHC, is a passionate proponent of Tai Chi for Health Programs in Arizona, the Southwest, and beyond. She has been a Tai Chi and Qigong instructor 20+ years, with 30+ years experience and personal practice.
Since early 2012, when she became a certified TCA instructor, she has been working diligently to share the programs through teaching, public speaking, organizing workshops, and mentoring others to teach. As Master Trainer and Public Health Consultant, Heather's focus is on public health initiatives for TCHI, specifically on creating sustainability and scalability.
Her devotion to the Tai Chi for Health Programs continues to deepen as she applies them to the continuous unfolding of her life and lives of others. She is inspired by the people who join in creating community of well-being. She has established her path in life by bringing together training in Tai Chi/Qigong, Public Health (Masters in Public Health, University of Arizona), international business, including serving as Director of Training and Development, World-Wide Manager of Marketing Communications, Managing Director of an International Economic Development Organization. She took her first tai chi class in 1986 while working in the Peoples Republic of China, after completing a degree in Chinese Studies. As a health advocate, she strives to educate the public about the health benefits of tai chi globally; she has trained with masters and taught tai chi, qigong, Tao Energy Arts on four continents. She formally began teaching tai chi and qigong in 2001, having been trained and encouraged by several masters, including Wu Style Masters Shi Mei Lin and Ma Jiang Bao (children of Ma Yue Liang and Wu Yin Hua, and Healing Tao Grand Master Mantak Chia. Heather is a Senior Instructor (licensed to train and certify instructors) and past Board President - Healing Tao Instructor's Association.

Introduced to the Tai Chi for Health Institute in 2011, she knew she had found the community she had been looking for; had found a place to work with like-minded (like-hearted) people sharing tai chi, with compassion, for everyone.

She is a Public Health consultant and tai chi and qigong instructor/trainer to health services organizations such as State and County Departments of Health, including her home state of Arizona, and home county- Pima, Arizona Falls Prevention Coalition, Southern Arizona Fall Prevention Coalition, Indian Health Services, numerous Indigenous Nations, Tribes, Pueblos across the South Western United States, Pima County Libraries, several hospital systems, City of Tucson workplace wellness program, University of Arizona College of Nursing, Arizona Oncology, Community Cancer Connections (also serving on the Professional Advisory Board), College of Public Health, College of Medicine.
She is on faculty with Arizona School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and is a guest lecturer at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine.

Her depth of experience has helped people of all ages and stages of life to regain, replenish, and maintain their natural health and vitality, including care-givers, stroke survivors, cancer survivors, post-surgery recovery, people with arthritis, MS, fibromyalgia, diabetes.

She delights in involving her daughter in tai chi and qigong workshops for families, children and their caregivers/teachers. Together they volunteer their tai chi/qigong practices with the not-for-profit Integrative Touch for Kids serving families with special medical needs. She also serves as the organization's Loving Presence, supporting and guiding healing arts practitioners and Caring for the Care-giver approach.
