What is Tai Chi for Heart Conditions?
Studies have shown tai chi improves most  heart conditions. Heart conditions are the number one killer for the western world, yet most of the conditions are preventable, and can be improved with a healthier lifestyle. Dr Lam's team has incorporated medical research and traditional Chinese medicine into the ancient art of tai chi to create an effective program. It can prevent or improve most heart conditions, as well improve balance, immunity and relaxation.

Preparation

Prepare by working with the Tai Chi for Heart Conditions DVD or the Online lessons and the Teaching Tai Chi Effectively book or ebook as much as possible. The DVD/lessons and book are essential requirements for certification for instructor of this program. Materials are available from taichiproductions.com (20% discount for paid participants, discount code to be given at registration.) 

What To Wear

Wear loose comfortable clothes and flat shoes suitable for exercise. 

Updates

Current instructors can request Tai Chi for Health certificate updates with advance notice and submitting an assignment prior to the workshop.  A fee may apply - check with your Master Trainer.


NB: Assignments submitted late may  incur an admin fee.

Who Can Come?

Anyone with or without prior tai chi experience can attend this workshop. Preparation is strongly recommended, and required for Board Certification.  It will take from 20 hours to 200 hours to prepare depending on your experience in tai chi and health education. For example an experienced tai chi practitioner would not need as much time (about 15 to 30 hours) to learn the program from the instructional dvd or online lessons.

Who will be Certified to Teach the Program?

Participants who have met all requirements on completion of the workshop will be eligible to be certified by the Tai Chi for Health Institute to teach this program. A nominal fee is required.

Should you not be qualified for certification by the end of the workshop, you will have 2 additional weeks to complete requirements. There is an additional fee for post-workshop certification, so be sure to put in the time prior to the workshop to prepare.

Updates

At this workshop qualified instructors will have an opportunity to update their existing qualifications. There may be an administration fee and you will need to complete a written assignment and submit it no later than May 1. Be prepared to demonstrate the form associated with the program you are updating. Reminder: Updates are required every two years. Updates are available for TCD, TCA, TCAFP, STCA, TCA2, TCB, TCE, TCE2, TCHC, TCM, TCO, TCR.

CEU Credits

6.5 contact hours for CEUs per day are available for a small additional fee for Physical Therapists (PTs & PTAs), Occupational Therapists (OTs and OTAs), Advance Practice Registered Nurses (APRN), Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) & American College of Sports Medicine Certified Professionals (ACSM). Every state and certifying organization has different requirements, and these requirements are subject to frequent changes.  TCHI, as with all CE providing organizations, require that each participant check with their certifying organization to verify that they will accept these CEUs.

The Tai Chi for Health Institute is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing.  The course offering is approved for up to 16.5 contact hours applicable to APRN, RN, or LPN relicensure.   KS State Board of Nursing Provider Number (SP1460-0321).

The Indiana Professional Licensing Agency has approved the Tai Chi for Health Institute, c/o The Home Gym, Inc. to provide continuing education contact hours to Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapist Assistants. This workshop (Tai Chi for Health) provides a maximum of 14 OT/OTA contact hours. Provider #98000561A

As a Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the Kansas Physical Therapy Association has approved the Tai Chi for Health Institute to provide continuing education contact hours to Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants. This workshop (Tai Chi for Health) provides a maximum of 14 PT/PTA contact hours. Provider #CEULO10539

The American College of Sports Medicine’s Professional Education Committee certifies that “Tai Chi for Health Institute” meets the criteria for official ACSM Approved Provider status from (2018 – December 2021). Registration Deadline:  Registration recommended no later than 2 weeks prior to the workshop so you can obtain study materials and have time to learn the tai chi forms. Registration is accepted after that date as long as space allows, but you may need to do some work post-workshop in order to certify. If this is the case, an additional fee may apply.

Cancellations are subject to a $50 administrative fee prior to April 15, 2020; after this, cancellations will be refunded at 50% of fees paid if requested.
