On successful completion of this two day intensive workshop, you will have the necessary skills and knowledge to conduct safe and effective modified Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention classes. Tai Chi for Arthritis is a programme created by Dr Paul Lam in conjunction with a team of medical specialists and tai chi experts. It is specially designed to improve the control of arthritis and has been recommended by the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as an effective fall prevention programme.
- Learn how to teach this programme safely and effectively.
- Gain knowledge of what is TaiChi and how it helps people with arthritis and prevents falls.
- Be able to perform the Tai Chi for Arthritis set.
Suitable participants include: Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Certified Allied Health Assistants, Diversional Therapists, Health Professionals, Nurses, Tai Chi teachers and advanced Tai Chi students.
Rosalie Rudduck is a physiotherapist and master trainer in the Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention, Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis and Tai Chi for Diabetes programmes with the Tai Chi for Health Institute. She has Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training. Rosalie has worked extensively with people of all ages and has special interests in falls prevention and healthy ageing.
Each participant needs to be familiar with the movements in the Tai Chi for Arthritis programme (DVD available for $35.95) and the textbook "Teaching Tai Chi Effectively" by Dr Paul Lam (available in hard copy $21.95 or e-book $9.95) before coming to the workshop. Following successful completion of the course, you will be required to register to become a Tai Chi for Health Institute Board Certified Instructor before teaching the programme. Annual fee is $25 (Standard Membership) or $45 (Premier Membership.

Tai Chi for Arthritis Update only $200. Additional updates (Diabetes, Osteoporosis) $40 each.

Toowoomba is a beautiful inland city, with a population of around 100,000. Just 135 kms west of Brisbane, it is the gateway to south west Queensland. Plenty of accommodation, some good eating spots, parks and opportunities to explore. With the new airport (Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport), it is now serviced by direct flights to and from Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns and Townsville, with bus and shuttle services available from Brisbane as well.
