TAI CHI FOR ARTHRITIS/TAI CHI FOR ARTHRITIS FOR FALLS PREVENTION INSTRUCTOR TRAINING - April 2021
This instructor training workshop is for the dual certificates Tai Chi for Arthritis and Tai Chi for Arthritis for Falls Prevention. Two training completion certificates will be issued at the successful conclusion of the training.
In general, for instructor trainings for new certifications there is now a requirement to attend 14 hours (the usual 2 days) of training using the Zoom platform, and then attend two 1-hour 1-on-1 practicum sessions on Zoom with the Master Trainer (a 1-hour practicum if you already hold an active certificate from TCHI and are Board Certified).
Preparation for this training includes reading the book, Teaching Tai Chi Effectively and the Handbook, Tai Chi for Arthirits and Falls Prevention, and working through the DVD, Tai Chi for Arthritis. In addition, the completion/submission of a quiz is required prior to the training, as well as a recording of your attempt at performing the Tai Chi for Arthritis routine. The recording will be done on the Zoom platform and the link (or MP4) sent to the Master Trainer in advance of the first training segment.
The virtual training will be scheduled as 4 segments of 4 hours. For this training, the 4 virtual training segments will be from 8:30 to 12:30 on April 11 (Sunday), 12 (Monday), 18 (Sunday), and 19 (Monday). participants must attend all four segments to be eligible for the training completion certificates. These segments will be conducted using the Zoom platform. There is no charge to use Zoom (that is, you do not have to have a paid account to attend the training). No travel is required for this training since all components are virtual.
The practicum sessions will be scheduled for the 3-4 weeks after the conclusion of the four training segments. After the successful completion of the practicum(s), the training completion certifiacates will be issued.
A discount code for purchasing any needed materials will be provided.
Recertifications/updates are being done virtually and are not part of this training. The process will be to complete the written assignment packet and then spend an hour on Zoom with the Master Trainer. The Zoom session will include the usual recertification/update activities: doing the warm-ups, the Tai Chi routine(s) you are updating, and teaching one form using the Stepwise Progressive Teaching Method. There will also be discussion of safety, falls prevention, teaching effectively, and any other topics, as appropriate. Note: For recertifications, you should go back to the Master Trainer that originally certified you.
Instructor Certification Workshop: $250. Early bird is $210, if payment is received by March 5.
A discount code will be provided to purchase any needed materials.
Cancellation: $60 administrative fee for cancellations after April 1, 2021.
